TCF-142
Series—New RS-232/422/485 to Fiber Converter |
|
The TCF-142 Series, which is Moxa’s newest serial-to-fiber
Media Converter, is equipped with a multiple interface circuit
that can handle conversion between RS-232/422/485 and fiber.
The TCF-142 Series of serial-to-fiber converters makes use
of the unique features of fiber optic cable to extend serial
transmission distance up to 20 km (TCF-142-S), or 2 km (TCF-142-M).
Two products are available:

Fiber optic cable is the best choice available for extending
serial transmission distance, since it provides immunity
from electrical interference, is not adversely affected
by heat or cold, is secure against electronic wiretapping,
and is more reliable and easier to maintain than wire cable.

Great
Success—Snap-on uses NPort 1240 for shoebox-sized
IPC application |
 |
Snap-on Incorporated, a leading global
developer, manufacturer, and marketer of tool and
equipment solutions, has chosen Moxa’s NPort
1240 as one of the components of their SUN
Machine 450, which generates vehicle-specific
engine diagnostics for thousands of early and late-model
vehicles. The problem faced by Snap-on was that most
of the sensors used by the SUN Machine 450 are RS-232
devices, but the IPC in the machine only provides
2 serial and 2 USB ports. Furthermore, because of
the shoebox size of the controller, it was not possible
to install a multiport serial board. To get around
this problem, Snap-on used NPort 1240, a USB to 4-port
RS-232 serial HUB to connect to the IPC’s existing
USB port.
The important benefits that MOXA NPort 1240 brings
to Snap-on are:
-
1 USB port expands to 4 RS-232 ports
-
Hassle-free solution—additional I/O or IRQ
settings are not required
-
Plug & play solution
-
Power over USB feature eliminates the need for an
additional external power source

NE-4000T Gets Your Wholesale Market Scales Online |
|
Wholesale markets are prime locations for using Ethernet
to improve efficiency and increase profit. Big markets require
a large number of electronic scales, which are used to weigh
fruit, seafood, candy, vegetables, and other foodstuffs.
Since electronic scales do not have a built-in Ethernet
capability, a Serial (RS-232) to Ethernet Network Enabler
Module, such as MOXA
NE-4110S, is required to bring the scales into the network
era.

Why Ethernet?
- Many wholesale
markets are already set up for Ethernet, so no additional
wiring is required.
- As many as
50 scales could be used in one market, with the scales
distributed over a large area.
- A remote
host, located in a central office, can be used to maintain
all of the scales, in real time.
Benefits of choosing NE-4110S
- Make legacy
scales Ethernet-ready in no time
- Cost-effective
solution for getting your scales online
- Easy to configure
and maintain
