"Industrial Device Server with a Switch"
Gives System Integrators
an Important New Tool |
| NPort IA device servers deliver
easy and reliable serial-to-Ethernet connectivity for
the industrial automation market. NPort IA device servers
can be used to connect any serial device to an Ethernet
network, and provide TCP Server, TCP Client, and UDP modes
to ensure the compatibility of network software.
NPort
IA device servers are an ideal choice for connecting
RS-232/422/485 serial devices, such as PLCs, sensors, meters,
motors,
drives, barcode readers, and operator displays to a network.
All NPort IA models have a compact and rugged DIN-Rail
mountable casing.
Built-in 2-port Ethernet Switch for easy
wiring (RJ45 only)
NPort IA's built-in
2-port Ethernet switch increases your wiring options. Connect
1 port to the LAN and 1 port to an Ethernet-ready PLC, or
cascade two or more NPort IA device servers by connecting
from one
server to
another with a standard RJ45 Ethernet cable.
Redundant Power Inputs
NPort IA device servers have dual power inputs that can be connected simultaneously
to live DC power sources. If one of the power inputs fails, the other live
source acts as a backup to support NPort IA device server's power needs
automatically. The redundant dual DC power inputs give you extra assurance
of non-stop operation.
Warning by Relay Output and e-mail
The built-in relay output function helps you
keep tabs on the Ethernet link and power input status,
and lets you check the web console to know which power
or Ethernet
link has failed. NPort IA can also send out a warning when
an exception is detected. The relay output and e-mail warning
function gives maintenance engineers a valuable tool for
reacting promptly to emergency situations.

Cost with RS-485 Fiber Ring |
TCF-142's
"Point-to-point mode" or "ring mode"
can be used to transform an RS-485 cabling system from
copper to fiber.
Traditional
RS-485 copper networks used for real world applications
usually face the problem of terminator and resistor tuning.
In fact, field engineers can spend a great deal of
time on topology design, field testing, diagnostics,
etc.
Fiber
optical cabling systems provide the following benefits:
- No
Interference:
The only carrier of signal information in a fiber optic
cable is light. Conventional forms of interference do
not affect the fiber optic cable. RF, AC power lines,
arcing high voltages, and even nearby lighting strikes
will not compromise the signal in any way.
- Total Electrical Isolation:
Completely eliminating the electrical connection between
the two ends of the link eliminate ground loops, short
circuits, and signal leakage from one conductor to another.
- Safety:
Glass is unaffected by most chemicals and solvents. Fiber
optic cables can be used in all types of adverse environments,
such as the environments encountered in industrial complexes.
The communication signal is safer since it is optical,
not electrical. A break in a fiber will not produce a
shock hazard to human beings, nor will it produce sparks,
making the connection safe to use in explosive environments.
TCF-142's
Ring Mode provides more benefits with Fiber Ring:
- Lower maintenance cost compared to traditional copper
daisy chain networks.
- Lower cabling and device investment cost by using a
single converter instead of dual converters.
- Smoother system upgrades without changing application
software and management method.

Management System |
| Modern
networking products help automate the management and control
of floodgates
Traditionally,
floodgates were monitored onsite by one or more persons
hired specifically for that task. The fact that the cost
of employing fulltime employees can be staggering is a major
incentive in looking for ways to automate the monitoring
process. MOXA's products can help you reduce the cost. MOXA
offers several solutions for floodgate monitoring that include
remote I/O servers, industrial video servers, front-end
embedded computers, and high availability industrial Ethernet
switches.
